October 19 - Listening and Brazil

My dearest students,

Last class we had a the listening part about tips on what to do in Egypt, Mexico and Switzerland. We found out that Karina is an expert in FONDUE. She gave us recipes on how to prepare cheese and chocolate fondue.

There were some new words that we talked about:
chilly
pottery
mild
wooly
melt

Also, we highlighted the pronunciation of words such as CRUISE and FRUIT. We don't pronounce the "I". Remember Tom Cruise???

The questions on page 61 (speaking) were:

1. What's the weather like in January?
2. What clothes SHOULD I take?
3. What kind of things CAN I do?
4. ARE THERE any special places that I SHOULD visit?
5. What food do you recommend?


Homework: I asked you to write about Brazil having a foreigner as a reader. You should tell him a little bit more about our country, demystifying stereotypes of Brazil only being samba, carnival, soccer and mulatas. Also, you should give advice based on the questions above.
IMPORTANT: I asked everybody to do it so that I can post this to some students that are studying at Estrella College in Arizona. I want to let you communicate in English with an international audience. It will help you improve a lot and practice what you are learning. I count on you!!!
